Deep Blue Sky

I’ve been so misunderstood, ain’t no point keepin’ it inside
I’ve been so misunderstood, ain’t no point keepin’ it inside
I’m gonna exhale buzzin’ words to brighten up that deep blue sky

Ida Cox “Wild Women Don’t Have The Blues”

Ida Cox 1896-1967

She was a fabulous blues singer. I’m inspired by her strength of spirit!

Here is a transcript of the first verse to “Wild Women Don’t Have the Blues”:

“I hear these women raving ’bout their monkey men
About their trifling husbands and their no good friends
These poor women sit around all day and moan
Wondering why their wandering papa’s don’t come home
But wild women don’t worry, wild women don’t have no blues”

Teasin’ Wind

That teasin’ wind
Is gonna blow out my soul
I might lose control
Oh I hope we’re gonna be alright
‘Cause you know it blows vicious
In the night

Sculpture, St Paul de Vence

St Paul de Vence

Many years ago I visited the beautiful village of St Paul de Vence in the South of France.

The area has a rich artistic history and was a source of inspiration for many artists such as Matisse and Picasso. There is the fabulous Maeght Foundation, a large privately funded museum housing an impressive collection of modern art. When I was there, I saw a fantastic Joan Miro exhibition, notable works by Chagall, Braque, Bonnard, and even rows of Giacometti sculptures in the garden. In 2014 the Maeght Foundation celebrated its 50th anniversary. There are also many sculptures on the streets of the village itself.

To this day, the photos I took have been a constant source of poetic inspiration for me and I have photos from this holiday dotted around this blog. In this corner of France, the colours are vivid, the scenery is breathtaking, and there is art everywhere.

Wishing you all a happy Inspired Friday!
